Ya Done Good, Leo

Leo plays the lead role as Jordan Belfort in The Wolf of Wall Street (2013). The movie is based on the book The Wolf of Wall Street written by Jordan Belfort himself, about his rise to fortune and fall to the law. The movie starts off with Leo becoming a broker on Wall Street and being laid off. He then joins a smaller firm that sells penny stocks. Once he figures out he can make crazy money selling penny stocks, he decides to start his own company. This is where Jonah Hill comes in and works for Leo, becoming his best friend and business partner. Leo forms the company Stratton Oakmont and quickly makes millions of dollars scamming the rich and poor, which attracts the FBI to investigate him and his company. The movie wanted to be as close as possible to the real-life of Jordan Belfort, so The Wolf of Wall Street has more than its fair share of drugs, sex, and alcohol. Throughout the movie, Leo’s character begins to rely heavily on drugs, sex, and alcohol to function until he is finally arrested and forced into sobriety.

I really loved this movie not only because I love Leo, but because it showed the dirty truth about business and what people will do to get rich. I recommend anyone to watch it because of the great performances of Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill, both of which received Oscar nominations for these roles.  This movie is highly entertaining for all 180 minutes of it.

XOXO Gossip Girl

" Hey Upper East-Siders, Gossip Girl here" is how every episode of Gossip Girl starts. Based on the hit book series, this television series chronicles the fictional lives of teenagers growing up on the Upper East side of Manhattan. I'd first like to point out that none of the characters actually look like they are supposed to be 16 when the show starts. They are all way too pretty (Blake Lively!). Anyway, they start out in high school with the usual high school drama, but these are no ordinary teenagers. All of them, with the except for Dan (aka Lonely Boy), are pretty much filthy rich. The unknown character of Gossip Girl narrates the series. The blog that Gossip Girl writes spills all the characters' secrets of backstabbing, sabotage, and revenge. Eventually the characters graduate high school and continue the drama into college. Oh and the romance! At one point or another, practically all the main characters have dated or hooked up at some point. Although I am normally one to roll my eyes are such petty drama, I found myself constantly craving the next show because I had to find out what happened. My roommates and I would binge watch on the weekends because we couldn't watch an episode without each other. Back to the story line. The whole time the characters, besides stabbing each other in the back, are trying to figure out Gossip Girl is. When her true identity is revealed, I was quite shocked. I won't say who it is because that ruins the whole thing.

Guess you'll just have to watch for yourself.
XOXO

The Interview

The movie The Interview has caused extreme controversy recently in the media. When I saw the trailer for the first time, I thought, “Uh Oh, Kim Jong-un isn’t going to be happy about this…” I have always been a James Franco and Seth Rogan fan so personally I was excited to see the movie and very curious as to how they were going to make the plot non-offensive so that a nuclear war wouldn’t break out after its release date.

The movie itself is another Rogan-Franco, ruthless comedy that will make you laugh until you cry, but also make you ask your “Why in the world am I watching this movie?” Dave Skylark (James Franco) is a celebrity talk show host on the show “Skylark Tonight”, which Seth Rogan plays the producer of and best friend of Skylark. They decide they want people to take the show seriously and brainstorm who would make an impact on both their show and the people of America. Somehow they learn that Kim Jong-un is the biggest fan of Dave Skylark. One thing leads to another and Skylark and his best friend (Seth Rogan) are flown to North Korea to conduct the interview under strict North Korean regulations. However, they are contacted by the CIA to secretly assassinate Kim.

I don’t want to give anymore of it away, but I recommend this movie because it sheds some light on the North Korean situation in a comedic way. Rogan and Franco never fail to make me laugh with their raunchy jokes and outrageous plots.

The One Where I Talk about Friends

Seasons: 10

If you were alive in the 1990's, most likely you have heard and seen at least one episode of Friends. This show has been one of my favorite guilty pleasure, go-to-shows for a long time. I have been binge watching it since it released on Netflix earlier this year.

Friends has 6 main characters. All they do is drink coffee and get involved with shenanigans. Monica, Ross, Chandler, Joey, Rachel, and Phoebe are all in their 20's when the show starts and only a few end up over 30. Anyway, the show's main plot is about their love and work lives. There are several couples that happen between the 6 of them, but I won't say who in case you haven't seen Friends. Each character has a uniquely different personality. Ross is the smart guy who always has to be right. Rachel starts out at the ditzy one, but later evolves into a smarter character. She could also be called the pretty one. Monica is the ODC cleaner who used to be the fat girl in high school. Chandler is the funny, not to be taken seriously one. Joey is an actor by trade and not really that bright at times. And Phoebe, well she's kind of out there.

I recommend watching this show when you need to relax and have a chuckle or two.
