The movie The Interview has caused extreme controversy
recently in the media. When I saw the trailer for the first time, I thought,
“Uh Oh, Kim Jong-un isn’t going to be happy about this…” I have always been a
James Franco and Seth Rogan fan so personally I was excited to see the movie
and very curious as to how they were going to make the plot non-offensive so
that a nuclear war wouldn’t break out after its release date.
The movie itself is another Rogan-Franco, ruthless comedy
that will make you laugh until you cry, but also make you ask your “Why in the
world am I watching this movie?” Dave Skylark (James Franco) is a celebrity
talk show host on the show “Skylark Tonight”, which Seth Rogan plays the
producer of and best friend of Skylark. They decide they want people to take
the show seriously and brainstorm who would make an impact on both their show
and the people of America. Somehow they learn that Kim Jong-un is the biggest
fan of Dave Skylark. One thing leads to another and Skylark and his best friend
(Seth Rogan) are flown to North Korea to conduct the interview under strict
North Korean regulations. However, they are contacted by the CIA to secretly
assassinate Kim.
I don’t want to give anymore of it away, but I recommend
this movie because it sheds some light on the North Korean situation in a
comedic way. Rogan and Franco never fail to make me laugh with their raunchy
jokes and outrageous plots.
