Hot Rod

Hot Rod (2007) is definitely one of those movies with really strange humor that will make you cry laughing even though is it so outrageous. The first time I saw this movie I was dead on my couch recovering from Appendicitis. Every time I laughed, my abdomen was in excruciating pain. It was definitely not the right time to watch this movie because of the physical state I was in, but for all of you who don't currently have Appendicitis should totally watch this movie. The movie is about Rod Kimble, played by Andy Samberg, who is an amateur stuntman. Rod's stepfather is in need of a life-saving heart operation and their family cannot afford the operation so Rod decides to raise the money by jumping the biggest jump of his life, 15 buses. Rod and his crew of friends encounter hilarious drawbacks throughout the entire movie. One of my favorite parts is a really random forest dance scene. It makes me laugh so hard because I have no idea why on earth they added it to the film. This movie is a great movie to watch with a bunch of your friends if you just want a good laugh. Andy Samberg kills it as his character, Rod. His over-acting mannerisms and speech will make you feel so uncomfortable that it is hilarious. Hot Rod is a stupid-funny comedy that I would recommend to anyone!

This is a robbery!

This is a movie that I had not heard of until a friend suggested it to me. This is one of the reasons I love Netflix so much is because it lets you stumble upon movies like this. Flypaper tells the story of a bank being robbed by two sets of criminals at the same time. One gang is two redneck brothers who are so stupid you cannot believe they can actually rob this bank. The other is a group of "professional" bank robbers doing the job for someone else. Patrick Dempsey and Ashley Judd are the main characters who are hostages in this bank hold up. Dempsey's character is a crazy genius who tries to figure out who is robbing the bank. The hostages in the bank have seen the five different guys who are in the bank, but it is revealed they work for some one else and it appears to be an inside job. This movie has several gun fights and a little bit of comedy. The comedy mainly comes from the two brothers who are trying to rob the bank because they are ridiculously dumb. This is a heist movie that slightly turns in to a murder mystery. Although, I do have to say, I did not see the end coming. But you'll have to watch for yourself.

I really enjoyed watching this movie and I would recommend watching it especially if you enjoy heist or action movies with a little bit of comedy.

Dark Skies ain't that bad

It’s hard to find a compelling and thrilling horror movie on Netflix these days, but Dark Skies comes pretty close. Dark Skies (2013) is about a family being haunted and tormented by aliens. Keri Russell, who was in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, plays Lucy Barrett, a local realtor. She is the mother of two sons, Jesse and Sam, and wife to Daniel Barrett, played by Josh Hamilton. At the beginning of the movie, the family encounters strange occurrences for which they cannot explain and just ignore. Slowly, the incidences get worse and threaten the safety of their family. Lucy and Daniel are on the verge of insanity when they finally decide to seek out a “specialist.” I don’t want to reveal any more details, but the ending is bone chilling. I recommend watching this movie at night with the lights off so you force yourself to believe in the plot of the movie. After I watched it, I was pretty scared going to sleep I’m not going to lie. Horror movies usually don’t scare me anymore, but Dark Skies definitely freaked me out.

More than just an Office

The Office is probably in my top five funniest shows I have watched. This show is about a paper sales company, Dunder Mifflin. The regional branch in Scranton, Pennsylvania is the main location for The Office. The regional manager, Michael Scott, played by Steve Carroll, is the most dysfunctional boss I have ever seen. He causes a lot of the hilarity. The show is supposed to be set up like a documentary. The characters will have candid one-on-one sessions with the camera. (Note: It is not really a documentary) Besides, Michael Scott, sales representatives Jim Halpert and Dwight Schrute add to the comedy. They are constantly pulling pranks on each other. Jim's are usually more clever. And even though this office seems to goof off more than they work, they some how manage to be the top sales records. Throughout the series, there are many office romances. The most notable is between Jim and receptionist, Pam. Spoiler alert! They get married in season six. Sorry if I just ruined the entire show, but it's totally obvious since the first episode that these two are meant for each other.

The Office has a total of nine seasons. In my opinion, it lost some quality after Steve Carroll left the show. However, it was still funny. My favorite character is definitely Dwight. Although he can be mean sometimes, I like he has the funniest lines. Ask many of my female friends and they'll go on for hours about their crush on Jim (John Krasinski). At some point or another, each character has sometime funny to say or do. Overall, the show is pretty funny and I would not mind working for Dunder Mifflin.

I struggled finding a good clip to include that truly showed The Office. This clip will have to do.
